Singing!
Have the kids pick some of their
favorites and/or sing some about creation, ie. "He's Got The Whole World
In His Hands".
Scripture:
Genesis 1:27, 31
"So God created man in his own image, in the
image of God he created him; male and female he created him."27
Pray!
Objective.
Through this devotional the family
will be more aware that although everyone was created different from one
another, we were all created in God's image and we are all therefore good
and special to God.
Explain.
God has made each one of us in
his image and therefore he loves each one of us in a special way. You need
to understand how special you are to God. He loves you deep in his heart.
He also loves each one of your family members and friends deep in his heart,
not to mention those people that you find it difficult to love.
Activity.
Go through some pictures or photo
albums and talk about each family member (and maybe some friends if you have
an only child). Have everyone share about a specific God-like characteristic(s)
that they see in each family member. For example, joyful, good at science,
servant, kind, etc. Talk about people who may be difficult to love. Think
of God-like characteristics in those people, too. Remember those traits and
that God also sees them as special.
Craft.
Take a large piece of paper. Write
on the top, "In God's Image". Take old magazines, cut out pictures of different
kinds of people and make a collage. Or if you'd rather, you can make a collage
out of pictures of family and friends. You can even frame it and hang it
up in your home if you like.
Pray.
Thank God for his wonderful creations.
Thank him for how we are all individual and special. Ask for help to always
remember people's God-like characteristics, especially when they are difficult
for us to see.
